How to use the Seamless Carousel Splitter

  1. Drop a wide image, such as a panorama or a designed banner, on the left.
  2. Choose how many slides you want and the slide size.
  3. Decide whether a mismatched image should be cropped from the centre or padded with a colour.
  4. Download the numbered slides as a ZIP and post them in order.

Examples

3 portrait slides
3 slides at 1080 × 1350, centre-cropped: the most screen space in the feed.
Square panorama
5 square slides, padded with white so nothing is cut off.

About this tool

A seamless carousel is one long picture spread over several swipeable slides, so the image continues as people swipe. It works well for panoramas, timelines, before-and-after stories and designed posts where an element crosses from one slide to the next. This tool cuts your image into equal slides at the exact pixel size the platforms expect, so the joins line up perfectly.

For three 4:5 portrait slides the full image needs to be 3240 × 1350 pixels, which is a ratio of 2.4 : 1. If your picture has a different shape, you choose what happens: crop evenly from the centre, or keep everything and fill the gap with a background colour. The first slide's note tells you how much was cropped or padded. Files are numbered (name-01, name-02 …) so they upload in the right order.

Tip: when designing for a carousel, keep faces and text away from the cut lines, because some apps show a thin gap between slides.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type or open is never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The slicing happens in your browser using your device's own graphics. The image and slides never leave your computer or phone.

Which size is best for Instagram?

Portrait 4:5 (1080 × 1350) takes up the most room in the feed. Square 1:1 is the classic option. All slides in one carousel should use the same size.

Does it work for LinkedIn?

Yes. Upload the slides as a multi-image post in order. Many people also turn them into a PDF document post, which LinkedIn shows as a swipeable carousel.

Why are the edges of my image cut off?

Your image is not exactly as wide as the slides need. Choose "Pad with background colour" to keep the whole picture, or pick a different number of slides that suits its shape better.

Will posting reduce the quality?

Platforms re-compress uploads. Exporting at exactly 1080 px wide, as this tool does, avoids an extra resize on their side, which keeps slides as sharp as possible.
