About this tool
Sometimes a PDF has to become a picture: a slide for a social post, a page to drop into a presentation, a chart to paste into chat, or a scan for an app that only takes images. This converter draws each page with the same rendering engine used by the Firefox PDF viewer and saves it as a PNG or JPG.
Resolution decides how sharp the result is. 72 DPI matches the page's on-screen size and gives small files; 150 DPI is a good all-rounder that stays crisp on high-density displays; 300 DPI is print quality, so an A4 page becomes about 2480 × 3508 pixels. PNG keeps text and line art perfectly sharp, while JPG is smaller for photo-heavy pages.
Pages are rendered one at a time on your own device, and the PDF is never uploaded. Tip: for long documents at 300 DPI, convert just the page range you need. It is faster and uses far less memory.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Rendering happens in your browser using pdf.js. Your document never leaves your device.
Which DPI should I choose?
Use 150 DPI for screens, documents and slides, and 300 DPI if you plan to print the images or need to zoom into fine detail. 72 DPI is best for small previews.
PNG or JPG?
PNG is lossless and best for pages with text, diagrams or screenshots. JPG gives much smaller files for pages that are mostly photos.
Why does some text look different from the original?
If a PDF uses fonts that are not embedded in the file, the browser substitutes a similar font. Embedded fonts, which most PDFs use, render exactly.
Can I convert password-protected PDFs?
Not directly. Open the file with its password in your PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and convert that.
