About this tool
Every editor has find and replace, but not every place you write does: web forms, CMS fields, spreadsheets exported as text, or a phone. This tool gives you a fast, full-featured version that works anywhere. Paste text, type what to find and what to put in its place, and every match is replaced at once while you watch the result update.
"Whole words only" stops a search for "cat" from changing "category", and it works with accented and non-Latin letters too. "Match case" keeps "Apple" the company apart from "apple" the fruit. Leaving "Replace with" empty deletes every match, which is a quick way to strip a repeated phrase or tracking parameter.
For power users there is full JavaScript regular-expression support. Capture parts of a match with parentheses and reuse them with $1, $2 and so on, for example to turn 2026-03-14 into 14/03/2026. With "Understand \n and \t" on you can also split a comma-separated list onto separate lines or join lines with a comma by searching for \n.
Frequently asked questions
How do I replace line breaks?
Keep "Understand \n and \t" on (under More options) and type \n in the Find box. Put a space or a comma in "Replace with" to join lines, or type \n in "Replace with" to add line breaks instead.
What regex syntax is supported?
Standard JavaScript regular expressions, including character classes, quantifiers, groups, lookahead and lookbehind. In the replacement, $1 to $99 insert captured groups, $& inserts the whole match and $$ writes a literal dollar sign.
Why does it say my regular expression is invalid?
Usually an unclosed bracket or parenthesis, or a special character such as ?, + or * in the wrong place. Escape special characters with a backslash, or turn off "Use regular expression" to search for the exact text.
Is my text private?
Yes. Find and replace runs locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, and it is only saved in this browser so it is still there after a reload.
