About this tool
Text copied from emails, terminals, old documents or narrow web columns often arrives with a line break every few words. Pasted into a document or form, it looks ragged and is awkward to edit. This tool joins those lines back together so the text flows naturally again.
The default mode keeps real paragraph breaks (an empty line between blocks) and only removes the breaks inside each paragraph, which is usually what you want for prose. "Remove all line breaks" squeezes everything onto a single line, handy for spreadsheet cells, chat messages and code strings. "Join with a custom separator" turns a column of values into a comma-, semicolon- or pipe-separated list in one step.
Leading and trailing spaces on each line are trimmed before joining, so you never end up with double spaces at the seams. If your text came from a PDF and also has hyphenated words split across lines, the PDF Copy-Paste Text Fixer handles that case better.
Frequently asked questions
How do I keep paragraphs but remove the other line breaks?
Choose "Keep paragraph breaks". Lines separated by a single line break are joined with a space, and blocks separated by an empty line stay as separate paragraphs.
How do I turn a list into comma-separated values?
Choose "Join with a custom separator" and type a comma followed by a space (or just a comma). Empty lines are skipped so you do not get double commas.
Can I join lines with a tab or a new character?
Yes. Type \t in the separator box for a tab, or any characters you like, such as " | " or "; ".
Is the text sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so the tool works offline and your text stays on your device.
