CSV to JSON Converter
Turn spreadsheet rows into a tidy JSON array in one paste.
How to use the CSV to JSON Converter
- Paste CSV text, or open or drop a .csv file on the left. The first row should hold the column names.
- The delimiter is detected for you and the JSON appears on the right right away.
- Choose objects or plain arrays, and whether numbers and true/false become real JSON values.
- Copy the JSON or download it as a .json file.

About this tool
CSV is how most spreadsheets and exports share data, while JSON is what web apps, APIs and scripts want. This converter takes the first CSV row as field names and turns every following row into an object, giving you an array that can be dropped straight into code, a test fixture or a request body.
It understands quoted fields, so commas, quotes and even line breaks inside a cell are handled correctly. The delimiter is detected automatically, which means comma, semicolon, tab and pipe separated files all work without changing settings. Empty or duplicate column names get safe, unique keys instead of overwriting each other.
Tip: switch type conversion off when your data contains IDs, phone numbers or postcodes that must keep their exact text. With it on, plain numbers become numbers, but values with a leading zero are still kept as text so 0042 is never shortened to 42.
Frequently asked questions
Does my CSV need a header row?
For an array of objects, yes, because the header supplies the keys. If your file has no header, choose "Array of arrays" to get every row as a plain list.
Which delimiters are supported?
Comma, semicolon, tab and pipe are detected automatically. You can also force one under More options if the guess is wrong.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Parsing happens in your browser, so the CSV never leaves your computer. That makes it safe for exports that contain personal or financial data.
What happens with rows that have extra or missing cells?
Missing cells become empty strings, and extra cells get keys like column5 so no data is silently dropped.
Can I convert an Excel file?
Save or convert it to CSV first; the Excel to CSV tool on this site does that locally. Then paste the result here.
